Pre Natal Massage

Being pregnant is an amazing journey … a time of many physical and psychological changes, and time to nurture and care for oneself. Some changes are wonderful, while others can leave mom feeling quite uncomfortable. During these transitions, massage therapy can help to ease bodily discomforts and lessen any anxiety or stress associated with pregnancy.

Some of the benefits of regular massage are:

  • reduce fear and anxiety associated with pregnancy and the birth process
  • reduce labor time and complications
  • decrease low back, pelvis, and hip pain due to pressure from the growing baby
  • reduce swelling in feet, legs, hands and arms
  • decrease indigestion and heartburn
  • decrease of muscle tension in neck and shoulders from altered posture
  • increase mother’s energy levels
  • increase uterine blood supply to enhance fetal health and development
  • enhance mother’s immune system function

Pre-natal massage therapy is slightly different from regular massage therapy. One difference is the positioning of the client. During a session mom lies on her side supported by pillows and cushions, to accommodate her growing abdomen during her second and third trimester. Seated massage is also another alternative, if lying down is uncomfortable.

Post Natal Massage

($110.00 / one hour treatment)

After a baby’s birth, a new mom has a number of changes to cope with. She may feel emotionally and physically overwhelmed by the shifts in life style as well as the tremendous shifts that happen hormonally. Physically, the body is trying to recover from a process that took nine moths to create and a new mom may have to deal with headaches, back aches, and neck and shoulder tension from carrying newborns. Massage can help reduce these physical discomforts as well as gently help with:

  • emotional recovery and postpartum blues
  • nursing problems by reducing tension and thus helping with milk letdown
  • pain alleviation
  • body’s return to its pre-pregnancy state
  • renewed sense of body and self
  • decreasing fatigue associated with hormonal adjustments and the demands of being a new mother
  • reduce scar tissue formation and healing of incision after C-section

Testimonial

I've gone to Gerri for some craniosacral, but primarily massage therapy for about 14 years. I've tried several other therapists, too, and just keep going back to Gerri. For me, she provides the perfect combination of a relaxing and therapeutic massage, a soothing environment, her gentle nature, and knowing just how much to engage me in conversation before letting me drift off and enjoy the experience. Gerri is a highly skilled therapist and very intuitive to my needs. My only regret is that my wonderful sessions with her always have to end!~Charlene Ball, Client
